Dr. Sue Gibbsons’ Personal Profile

Sue Gibbons (nee Macnaught) grew up in Brisbane and wanted to be a vet for as long as she can remember. Sue graduated from Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in 1997. Her first job was in a small animal practice on the outskirts of Brisbane. During her first year out she developed a keen interest in surgery and spent her days off assisting local specialist surgeons. This interest led to a residency (training program) in Small Animal Surgery at University of Queensland VTH which she completed in 2002.

Sue worked as a Registrar at Veterinary Specialist Services in Brisbane, and Willows Referral Service in England where she developed a keen interest in orthopaedics. As part of her specialist training Sue has published in peer reviewed Veterinary Journals and presented at national and international conferences. During her career she’s had the honour of working alongside some of the world’s most renowned veterinary surgeons.

She successfully sat her Fellowship (specialist) Examination in Small Animal Surgery in 2006. Over the years Sue has lectured, tutored, mentored and examined both under-graduate and postgraduate veterinarians.

Sue started her “mobile” surgery business in 2007, providing in house specialist surgical solutions to general vet practices around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Her areas of interest include orthopaedics, particularly stifle (knee) surgery and arthroscopy.

Sue is married with two children and two dogs, Fozzy and Pip. Outside of work she’s a keen swimmer and enjoys ocean racing, mountain biking, hiking and eating chocolate!

What are the benefits of a Hydrobath?

Hydrobath is a combination of bathtub and power bather that uses a specially designed recirculation pump. This pump produces a high-volume mix of water and shampoo delivered powerfully enough to penetrate the thickest coats, yet gentle enough to massage the skin. This is a spa bath with health benefits, not only does it relax and pamper your dog with its massaging effect, but it can also provide health benefits and promote the well-being of your dog.
